Time and cost analysis can provide an indication of what is needed for a process to be performed in terms of time, money and materials. Comparisons can also be done between various processes.

Quick Steps

  1. Multiple ways to open the Edit activity/process link/decision/event card:

    1. Double-click on the node

    2. Right click on the node, select edit

    3. Select the magnifying glass on the node, select the cog, select Update

    4. Select the cog next to the activity/process link/decision/event that's displayed in the right-hand side diagram content menu, select Update

  2. At the bottom of the first tab, details, timings will display that can be filled in:

    1. Processing time

    2. Wait time

  3. Select the green Update button

Processing and Wait Times

Processing time = doing the work

This is the time it takes to actually do the work. For example, the time needed to complete a task or run an activity.

Wait time = waiting for something to happen before you can continue

This is the time spent waiting, either because part of the activity requires waiting (like drying, approval, or cooling) or because you must wait before starting the next activity (like waiting in a queue or waiting for someone else’s input).
