Create a New Plan

Step-by-step guide to creating a new strategic plan in ProcessPro's Planner.

Written by James Ross

Description

This article walks you through creating a new plan in ProcessPro. A plan is the top-level container for your strategic objectives — it holds your focus areas and goals.

Reasoning

Every strategic initiative starts with a plan. Creating a plan in ProcessPro (instead of a spreadsheet or slide deck) means your strategy is visible, trackable, and connected to the people responsible for execution.

Quick Steps

  • Navigate to Plans from the left-hand navigation menu.

  • On the Plans summary page, click the Add button in the top-right toolbar.

  • The Add Plan modal opens with three tabs: Details, Properties, and Change Log.

  • In the Details tab, fill in the required fields:

    • Title * — The name of your plan (e.g., "FY2026 Strategic Plan").

    • Objectives — A rich text description of what the plan aims to achieve. Supports formatting, lists, and more.

    • Plan Template — Optional. Defines custom fields for this plan.

    • Owner * — The person responsible for the plan. Select from the dropdown.

    • Tags — Optional. Type a tag name to create or select existing tags.

    • Group * — The business group this plan belongs to (e.g., "Business Unit").

  • Click Save to create the plan.

  • The plan opens on the Plan Detail Page in Draft status.

Restrictions

  • Title, Owner, and Group are required fields. You cannot save without them.

  • Only users with the appropriate permissions can create plans.

Important: New plans are created in Draft status. You must publish the plan to make it visible to the wider organisation.
