Description
The Plan Detail Page has a right sidebar that gives you quick access to plan settings, stakeholders, templates, and more. The sidebar has 8 tabs, each covering a different aspect of plan configuration.
Why the Sidebar Matters
The sidebar is where you configure the plan itself — who's involved, what templates define the goals, what custom fields apply, and how the plan connects to the broader organisational structure. Most plan-level settings live here, separate from the goal-level editing you do in the main content area.
Quick Steps
Expand the Sidebar
On the Plan Detail Page, look for the sidebar toggle (☰) on the far right edge of the screen.
Click the toggle to expand the sidebar from its collapsed icon-only state to the full 510px panel.
The sidebar stays expanded until you collapse it again.
The 8 Sidebar Tabs
Tab | What It Does |
Plan Principles | Configure custom fields for the plan. These are additional data fields that apply to the plan itself (not individual goals). |
Actions | Manage action templates linked to the plan. Actions define what happens at each stage. |
Stakeholders | Assign people to the plan — owners, reviewers, viewers. Controls who can see and edit the plan. |
Plan Template | View or change the plan template that defines the plan's structure and default settings. |
Tags | Add or remove tags for categorisation and filtering on the Plans summary page. |
Details | View plan metadata — created date, last updated, version number, status, and owner. |
Template Hierarchy | Set up the goal template hierarchy. This is required before you can create goals in the plan. |
Future State | Define the future state vision for the plan — where the organisation wants to be. |
Navigating Between Tabs
Click any tab icon in the sidebar to switch to that tab's content.
The active tab is highlighted.
Tab content loads in the main sidebar area below the tab bar.
Restrictions
The sidebar is only available on the Plan Detail Page — not on the Plans summary page.
Some tabs (like Plan Principles and Template Hierarchy) require edit permissions to modify.
Viewers see a limited set of tabs — primarily Stakeholders, Tags, and Details.
Important: The Template Hierarchy tab is critical — you must configure it before creating any goals. Without a template hierarchy, the "Add Goal" button will show a validation error.
