Description
The Gantt Chart is a read-only visual timeline of your plan's goals. It shows when each goal starts and ends, how goals are grouped by focus area, and where overlaps or gaps exist. It's the fastest way to see the big picture of your plan's schedule.
Why Use the Gantt Chart?
A list of goals with dates is useful, but it doesn't show you the shape of your plan. The Gantt Chart reveals patterns: Are too many goals starting at once? Is there a gap in Q2? Does one team have all the deadlines? These insights are hard to get from a table, but obvious on a timeline.
Quick Steps
Open the Gantt Chart
Open the plan from the Plans summary page.
Click the Gantt Chart tab in the plan header (next to Edit Information, Preferences, and Snapshot).
The timeline view loads, showing focus areas and their goals plotted against dates.
Read the Gantt Chart
Horizontal axis — Time (days, weeks, or months depending on zoom level).
Vertical axis — Focus areas appear as parent rows. Goals are loaded lazily when a focus area is expanded.
Bars — Each bar represents a goal. The bar's position and length show the start date, due date, and duration.
Colour coding — Goals may be colour-coded by focus area, status, or owner.
Navigate the Timeline
Scroll horizontally to move forward or backward in time.
Zoom in/out to change the time granularity (day → week → month).
Expand a focus area to load and display its goals on the timeline.
Click on a goal bar to see details or open the goal for editing.
Restrictions
The Gantt Chart is read-only — you cannot drag to reschedule goals from the chart. Edit goal dates via the goal detail view instead.
Only goals with Start Date and Due Date set will appear on the Gantt Chart.
Draft goals appear on the chart but may be visually distinguished from Active goals.
Goals without dates are listed below the timeline but not plotted.
Goals load lazily — expand a focus area row to see its goals.
Important: The Gantt Chart is a visualisation tool, not an editor. To change a goal's dates, right-click the goal and select Edit Goal, or open the goal detail view. Set accurate Start and Due dates for the chart to be meaningful.
