Set Alternate Path (Loopback) Options

Alternative paths in processes and value streams highlight areas where steps may need to be repeated.

In a process or value stream, alternate paths are used to show when activities need to be redone. Alternate paths can be added to an activity, decision, process link, event, process start and end points, and gateway start and end points.

Quick Steps

  1. Open the item you want to add an alternate path to

  2. Select the Set Alternate Path tab

  3. Choose the activity you want to loop to

  4. Update Activity partial will open up. Select the Alternate Path tab and fill in the details

    1. Toggle on the display on the map to show the description on the map

  5. Click Update Activity

  6. The alternate path will appear on the map

To change the connection positions and types

  1. Right click on the initial step. Update {object} partial will open.

  2. Select Connectors tab

  3. Using the dropdowns change the connector positions by changing where they enter and exit the node

  4. Using the dropdown change the connector type from dotted to solid

    1. If this option is not chosen, the default is a dotted line

  5. Click Update {object}

  6. The connection positions will change on the map

To Remove the Alternate Path

  1. Double click on the activity to edit it

  2. Select the Alternate Path partial

  3. Scroll down and select Remove Alternate Path
