When you add a decision, gateway, alternate path, triggers, inputs and outputs to a process map, it is possible to see the flow of the process from the map. However, when a process or value stream is printed you cannot see the map and the content side by side.
As a user with a newly printed PDF of a process or value stream, you will see that icons have been added to the PDF to help you determine the correct path to take.
Gateways
If an activity is in a gateway the name of the gateway will show first and the row label will show after the yellow triangle icon.
Decisions
The same happens for a decision. The green and red icons show you the Yes and No paths of the decision and which activities are linked to the outcome.
Alternate Paths (Loopbacks)
Alternate paths appear with an arrow beside the name of the attached activity to ensure it is clear for the user to see where to return or progress to.
Triggers, Inputs and Outputs
Triggers, inputs and outputs can be linked to activities and appear in multiple places in the printed PDF. Triggers appear at the top below the process objectives:
Inputs appear within the activity they are attached to:
Outputs appear at the bottom of the process steps below the stakeholders of the process:
Process Start and End points
Process start and end points now appear on the PDFs with the process links that are attached to them to ensure it is clear for all users what processes occur prior to and after the printed process. They will appear before and after the process steps as seen on the map.
