When creating processes, you may realise that you need to create a whole new process with some or all of the activities you have added to a different map. As a stakeholder, you can select all the activities, process links and decisions needed for the new process and extract them to create a new process and a process link in your current process.

Quick Steps

  • Click on the toggle in the diagram content menu to activate select

  • Select your activities

  • Click on the Bulk Actions button

  • Select Extract to new Process

Take Note:

  • Activity level tags, activities, process links and decisions can be extracted

    • Inputs, outputs and triggers that are attached to activities that are extracted will not follow to the new process and will change to undefined in the triggers, inputs and outputs table

  • The selected items can be beside one another or appear anywhere in the map

  • Tasks, notes and attachments will follow through to the new process with the extracted activities

  • If the whole alternate path is extracted, i.e., the activities attached to the start and end of the alternate path, that alternate path will appear in the new process

    • If the activity attached to the start or the end of the alternate path is excluded from the extraction, the alternate path will not appear in the new process

  • Activities within a gateway will not be extracted as they cannot be selected in the diagram content menu

  • If a decision has an existing alternate path and the activity that is attached to the alternate path is selected for extraction, the decision will have the activity attached to it in the new process

    • If the existing activity is not selected for extraction but the decision is, the decision will appear in the new process and the alternate path will be replaced with an endpoint
