Remove Activities and Process Links from a Branch

Branches enable users to design more complicated processes, but as the process develops branches may need to be split apart.

Users can easily remove activities, events and process links from a branch in a similar way to how the branch was created.

When a node is removed from a branch, all the child nodes will follow it into the main flow of the process or value stream.

Using the steps below, edit the activity you want to remove from the branch.

Quick Steps

  • Open the update pop up

    • Double click on the node

    • Right click and select edit

    • In the diagram content menu, click on the cog and select update activity

  • Change to the Connectors tab

  • Click on the x beside the parent node (the node that appears above the node you are editing)

  • Click on Update

If the connectors are changed from default to anything else, when removing the connection between a parent and a child node, the connections will remain the same and will need to be changed to default if you do not like the view.

Using the following steps, users can remove activities, events and process links that are linked to a decision. This would create a standalone decision with nothing connected to complete the flow. To link a different node, follow the steps in this article.

Deleting a parent decision or node will shuffle the branch up and the second node will become the parent node.
