International Timezones

International timezones make it possible for each user to work in a timezone that matches their location, while still keeping a consistent audit trail across the system. Timezones can be set on company and on user level.

Company and User Timezones

  • When a company is created/updated, a timezone can be set for that company.

  • By default, all new users inherit their company’s timezone.

  • A timezone can be set when creating a user, and it can later be changed on user level.

  • Timezones can be viewed and updated:

    • Each individual can view their own timezone in their personal settings.

    • An administrator can update user timezones on the users settings page by updating user details or using the bulk change function.

    • CSV and Excel exports of users shows all users' timezones in one place.

  • Timezone changes are recorded in the User change log, wherever the timezone is set or updated.

How Time is Displayed

  • Everything displayed on a user’s screen uses that user’s chosen timezone.

  • When hovering over a timestamp, a tooltip shows both:

    • The local time (user’s timezone), and

    • The UTC time.

International Timezones Reference Table

A reference table for timezones is available, and can be opened via the info icon (i) on each page where a timezone can be set. All global timezones are available.

Defaults and Availability

  • Timezones default to Auckland, New Zealand time.

  • UTC is used in some places (like in the footer of a printed export) for consistency and is clearly indicated wherever it appears.

  • Change log entries clearly indicate where UTC time is referenced.

  • The timezone of the user who creates an Excel, CSV, PDF export, SVG download, or SOP, will display in the title of the exported document.

  • Wherever a date is required, that user's selected timezone is displayed. This applies to Review Date, Share Expiry Date, Offline (the reinstatement date is set to five days from the user’s chosen date and time), and Add Task.

Auditing and Investigation

If an auditor or colleague needs to see what a user in another timezone saw at a specific point in time, the auditor can temporarily switch to that user’s timezone.
