Managing Dashboard Widgets

How to add, edit, remove a dashboard widget. This article also explains the layout of widgets.

Quick Steps to Add a Widget

  1. Select the Edit Layout button in the top right corner. Dashboard changes to editing mode.

  2. Select the Add widget button in the top right corner. Add Dashboard Widget popup will open up.

  3. There are three tabs to complete:

    1. Details:

      1. Widget header: The header that will display on the widget.

      2. Type: select the widget type from the dropdown. Read more about the different widget types.

      3. Header display: choose whether this header will display always or only in edit mode.

    2. Behaviour:

      1. Title: add a widget title. Toggle whether the title should be hidden or displayed.

      2. Subtitle: add a widget subtitle. Toggle whether the subtitle should be hidden or displayed.

      3. Help Text: add a widget help text. Toggle whether the help text should be hidden or displayed.

      4. Title position: choose top or bottom from the dropdown.

      5. Title Align: choose centre, left, right from the dropdown.

      6. Title Text Colour: choose the colour from the colour selector or type the colour code.

      7. Title Background Colour: choose the colour from the colour selector or type the colour code.

      8. Title Padding Px

      9. Title Border Radius Px

    3. Configuration:

      1. Text: add text to be displayed in the widget.

  4. Select the green Save button. The widget will display on the dashboard. It can be moved and resized.

  5. Select the Done button top left of the dashboard to exit editing mode.


Quick Steps to Edit a Widget

  1. Select the three horizontal dots icon that appears in the top right corner of each widget. Widget actions menu appears displaying three options: Refresh, Edit, Remove.

  2. Select Edit. Update Dashboard Widget card opens up containing the same fields as the Add popup described above.

  3. Edit the desired fields, changing the tabs at the top.

  4. Select Save.


Quick Steps to Delete a Widget

  1. Select the three horizontal dots icon that appears in the top right corner of each widget. Widget actions menu appears displaying three options: Refresh, Edit, Remove.

  2. Select Remove.

  3. Select Yes.

Fields marked with asterisk * are mandatory to be completed.


Understanding the Widget Layout

Each widget appears as a block on the dashboard and includes the following elements:

  • Widget actions menu (top right)

    • Accessed by selecting the three horizontal dots icon.

    • Provides additional actions and settings for the widget: Refresh, Edit, Remove.

  • Widget content area (body)

    • Displays the information, data, or visualisation provided by the widget.

  • Help icon (where available)

    • Displayed as an encircled question mark

    • Hover over the icon to view a description of the widget type and its purpose.

The following are only available once the dashboard is in edit mode:

  • Move icon (top left)

    • Displayed as six dots

    • Use this icon to drag and move the widget to a different position on the dashboard.

  • Widget title (top)

    • Displays the name of the widget.

    • The title can be hidden in the widget configuration.

  • Resize icon (bottom right)

    • Displayed as two arrows

    • Drag the icon to increase or decrease the size of the widget.
