Repeaters are a special field type that allow you to create repeatable sections within your form. They are useful when you need to capture multiple instances of the same data — such as line items, attendees, or incident details. Each repeater can contain its own set of child fields.
What is a Repeater?
A Repeater is a field that lets users enter the same type of information multiple times within a form. Instead of guessing how many entries will be needed and building fixed fields for each, the user adds as many rows as the situation requires.
For example, an Incident Details repeater could include fields for Date, Description, and Severity. Users can then add as many incident entries as needed, with each entry using the same set of fields.
When to Use a Repeater
The number of entries varies per submission — one expense claim has 2 lines, the next has 15.
Each entry needs the same fields — line items (description, amount, date), attendees (name, role, organisation), or incidents (date, description, severity).
You want the data structured per entry — repeater rows can be exported and reported on individually, unlike a single free-text box containing "3 incidents".
If the data is a single value (one date, one description), use a normal field instead.
Quick Steps to Add a Repeater with Child Fields to a Form
From the left panel, drag the Repeater field onto the canvas
The repeater appears as a chip on the canvas, like any other field
The right-hand side diagram content menu opens. Complete the details and properties.
Select the Repeater Fields tab on the right. The table displays any previously added child fields. If no fields have been added, the table is empty.
Add Child Fields:
Select the plus icon. Repeater field card pops up.
Fill in the child field details, properties and rules (if applicable) as you would any other field. To read more about how to add these, see Dynamic Forms: Form Field Details, Properties, Rules.
Select Save. The child field will display in the table.
Add as many child fields as needed.
Important: Child fields within a repeater are specific to that repeater. They cannot be shared across different repeaters. If two repeaters need the same field, it must be added to each one.
Important: Repeater fields and their child fields cannot be displayed on the Workflow Summary. They cannot be opted in and never appear as summary columns - see Display a Dynamic Form Field on the Workflow Summary.
Repeater Delete Button
Each row in a repeater includes a delete button (trash icon) that allows users to remove individual entries. The delete button column is pinned to the right side of the repeater table — it remains visible and accessible even when the table is scrolled horizontally. This ensures users can always remove rows regardless of how many child fields the repeater contains.
Important: The delete button column is always the rightmost column and cannot be repositioned.
Repeater Label Position
The repeater label position controls where the repeater title appears relative to the repeater table. Configure this in the Properties tab of the repeater field:
Top — the label appears above the repeater table (default)
Left — the label appears to the left of the table
Right — the label appears to the right of the table
Hidden — the label is not displayed
The configured label position is honoured at runtime when the form is displayed to users.
Captured-Data Alignment
Each child field inside a repeater has an Alignment setting that controls how captured values are displayed in the repeater table:
Left — values are left-aligned (default)
Center — values are centred
Right — values are right-aligned
Set the alignment per child field in the Properties tab. This is useful for numeric columns (right-aligned) or short categorical values (centred).
