Screen Recorder: Saving and Exporting Your Recording

Learn how to save, export, and import your Screen Recorder capture into ProcessPro as a process guide.

Written by James Ross

After recording and editing your screen guide, the final step is to export it into ProcessPro. You can import a recording as a new process or add the captured steps to an existing process.

Export Options

Import as a New Process

  • Creates a brand new process in ProcessPro with all captured steps.

  • Each recording step becomes a process activity.

  • Screenshots are attached to their corresponding activities.

Add to Existing Process

  • Appends captured steps to an existing process.

  • Useful for adding a sub-process or updating part of a larger workflow.

  • You choose where in the process the new steps are inserted.

Export as PDF

  • Generates a PDF document with all steps and screenshots.

  • Useful for sharing outside of ProcessPro or for offline reference.

  • The PDF includes step numbers, descriptions, and annotated screenshots.

Quick Steps

  1. Complete and edit your recording

  2. Click Export in the recording panel

  3. Choose New Process or Existing Process

    • New Process — enter a title and select a process group

    • Existing Process — search for and select the target process

  4. Enter a title (for new) or select a process (for existing)

  5. Click Import

  6. Navigate to your process to review the imported steps

After Import

Once your recording is imported into ProcessPro:

  • Review each activity - check that step descriptions are accurate and complete.

  • Adjust activity order - drag and drop to reorder if needed.

  • Add decision points - if your process has branches, add decision nodes manually.

  • Link related processes - connect imported steps to other processes or documents.

  • Publish - when satisfied, publish the process to make it available to your team.

Note: Imported steps are added as draft activities. You must publish the process before other users can see it.

Troubleshooting

  • Import fails: Check that you have permission to create or edit processes in the selected process group.

  • Screenshots missing: Ensure the recording was fully processed before exporting - large recordings may take longer.

  • Steps out of order: The import preserves the recording order. If steps are misordered, edit the recording before importing.
